Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Sokolosky

Deputy Chief of the Joint United State Military Advisory Group-Thailand (JUSMAGTHAI)

Johnny is from North Carolina. He holds a Master of International Public Policy degree from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) (2019) and a Bachelor of Art in Political Science from East Carolina University (2007).

He began his military career as a helicopter pilot, flying OH-58D Kiowa Warriors in eastern Afghanistan with Task Force Lighthorse and UH-60 Black Hawks with the Multinational Force and Observers in Egypt. In 2016, he transitioned to the Foreign Area Officer (FAO) career field, studying Korean at the Defense Language Institute and Seoul National University.

As an Indo-Pacific FAO, Johnny has served at the U.S. Army Pacific, the Joint Staff J-5, and now at JUSMAGTHAI.

His awards and decorations include the Combat Action Badge, Senior Army Aviator Badge, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, the Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge, the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold), among others.
