COBRA GOLD EXERCISE
COBRA GOLD is a yearly military exercise that takes place in Thailand from February to March. It is the largest joint & multilateral exercise in Indo-Pacific region and a concrete example of the strong alliance and strategic relationship between Thailand – United States and their allies. The exercise is designed to improve interoperability and build relationships between participating countries.
What is the goal?
To improve interoperability, build relationships, and provide a venue for participating countries to execute complex and realistic operations
What is included in the exercise?
- Military Domains: land, maritime, air, cyber and space in forms of Staff Exercise (STAFFEX), Combined Joint All-Domain Events (CJADO) and Field Training Exercise (FTX) including Amphibious Exercise (AMPHIBEX), Combined Arm Live-Fire Exercise (CALFEX)
- Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Response (HADR): disaster response operations, and Non-combatant Evacuation Operations (NEO)
- Engineering Civic Action Program (ENCAP): a project where multinational military engineers work together to build infrastructure i.e., multi-purpose rooms for schools, to enhance good relationships with local communities, and improve their quality of life especially for civilian residents in the exercise areas.
